How to Export Quiz Results to PDF and Excel

The quiz is over, the leaderboard is up, and now you need those scores in your gradebook. Retyping them from a screen is the kind of busywork software should have killed years ago. Sheelon exports a full game report to Excel, CSV, or PDF in two clicks, with per-player scores and a question-by-question breakdown. Here is how it works and which format to use when.

What ends up in the export

Every export is built from the same game report, so you get the same data regardless of format. For each player:

  • Rank and player name
  • Total score
  • Correct answers and total answers
  • Accuracy as a percentage
  • Average response time in seconds
  • A column for every question, so you can see exactly which ones each student got right

That last part is the useful bit. A single accuracy number tells you how the class did overall. The per-question columns tell you which concepts the class missed, which is what you actually act on when you plan the next lesson.

The two-click export

1

Open the game report

Go to Analytics, then open the finished game you want. You will see the summary stats, the leaderboard, and the question-by-question report.

2

Click Download and pick a format

Use the Download button above the report and choose CSV, Excel, or PDF. The file downloads straight to your device, named for the game so it is easy to find later.

Which format should you use

Excel (XLSX)

Gradebooks and analysis

Opens in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers. Sort, filter, and paste straight into a gradebook, or build your own formulas across the per-question columns.

CSV

Imports and LMS uploads

The plainest format. Use it when another system, such as your LMS or school information system, expects a CSV upload.

PDF

Sharing and records

A formatted report with the summary, leaderboard, and breakdown. Good for emailing a parent, handing to an administrator, or keeping a clean record.

A simple rule: if a human will read it, export PDF. If a spreadsheet or another system will read it, export Excel or CSV.

Three things teachers do with the export

  • Drop scores into a gradebook. Export to Excel, sort by name, and paste the score column. What used to be ten minutes of squinting at a screen becomes a few seconds.
  • Find the questions to reteach.Scan the per-question columns for the items most of the class missed. Those are tomorrow's warm-up.
  • Show the work to someone else. A PDF report is an easy way to evidence a formative check for an administrator, or to show a parent exactly where a student stands.

Printable quizzes, too

Result exports are about the data after a game. If you need the quiz itself on paper, Sheelon also exports the quiz as a printable PDF, with an optional answer key, so you can run the same content as a paper assessment or a sub-day backup. It lays out correctly for right-to-left languages and includes any images on the questions.

What it costs

Result exports are part of Pro. The free plan covers live games, AI generation, and the on-screen analytics; exporting the report to a file is one of the features that comes with upgrading. Pro is $3.99 per month, or $39 per year, and the same upgrade unlocks all 10 question types, 150 players per game, unlimited AI generation, and team mode.

If exporting results is something you do after most games, Pro pays for itself in saved grading time quickly. If you only need it occasionally, the month-to-month option lets you turn it on for the weeks that matter.
