AI quiz generator
from a topic, your notes or a file, in about a minute
Say what the quiz is about, paste your notes or upload the chapter, and Sheelon's AI writes a multiple-choice quiz: the questions, the answer options, the correct answer and a short explanation for each one. Look over the draft, fix what needs fixing, then play it live in class, give it as an online test or assign it as homework.
5 AI quizzes free. No credit card. Students join without an account.
Three ways to start a quiz
Pick what the AI writes from. It does the rest.
From a topic
Say what the quiz is about and who it is for, for example “the water cycle, grade 4”. Before it writes, the AI checks facts online so the answers are right.
From your notes or a text
Paste lesson notes, a textbook passage or a syllabus. The questions come from what the text says, and you can attach it as a reading passage students can open while they answer.
From a file or a photo
Upload a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or Excel file up to 10 MB, or a photo of a worksheet. In a PDF, the AI reads charts and diagrams too.
What the AI puts in your quiz
- Multiple choice, true/false and type-the-answer questions. Pro adds 7 more types, such as matching, fill in the blank and word cloud.
- A short explanation for every question, which students see after they answer.
- A check on every multiple-choice question: the correct answer does not stand out from the others, and no distractor could also be argued to be right.
- You choose the language, the difficulty and 5 to 20 questions, or let the AI pick the number.
- It all opens in the editor: reword a question, swap an answer, delete or add questions.
What happens to water during evaporation?
- It turns from a gas into a liquid
- It freezes and turns into ice
- It turns from a liquid into a gasCorrect answer
- It soaks down into the ground
Explanation: In evaporation, the sun's heat turns liquid water into water vapor that rises into the air. The opposite change, from gas to liquid, is condensation, and that is how clouds form.

AI quiz generator: common questions
How do I make a quiz with AI?
Sign up free, click “Create Quiz” and choose what the AI starts from: a topic, text you paste or a file. Choose the language, the difficulty and how many questions, and in about a minute the quiz opens in the editor. From there you edit it, play it as a game or assign it as homework.
Is the AI quiz maker free?
Yes. The free plan includes 5 AI quizzes for life (up to 50 questions in total), with an explanation for every question and no credit card. Pro removes the limit for $3.99 a month or $39 a year.
Can it make a multiple-choice test from my notes or a PDF?
Yes. Paste your notes, or upload a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or Excel file or a photo of a page, up to 10 MB. The questions are written from your material, so the test checks what you taught, not a generic version of the topic.
Which languages does it write in?
By default the quiz is written in the language of your Sheelon interface, and you can choose another one. The interface comes in 30 languages, and Hebrew and Arabic quizzes run right to left on every screen.
Do students need an account to answer?
No. Students join with a 6-digit PIN, a QR code or a link, without signing up.
How is this different from asking ChatGPT for questions?
ChatGPT can write a list of questions, but then you copy them into a form or a game, check the answers yourself and set up the grading. In Sheelon the questions land straight in a quiz you can edit, every multiple-choice question is checked before you see it, students answer on any device, and answers are graded and scored automatically.
Can I print the quiz?
Yes, on Pro: download a student PDF with no answers and a teacher PDF with an answer key. On every plan you get a report after each game with every student's score and how each question went, and you can export results to CSV.
