Live word cloud,
answered from every phone

Ask one question and everyone in the room answers in a word or two from their phone. The cloud builds up on your screen as the answers come in, and the words people repeat grow bigger.

Words each participant sends
Free: up to 30 participants

Participants don't need an account. Just the PIN.

How it works

  1. 1

    Type your question

Choose whether each person sends one, two or three words, and open the cloud. Your screen shows the PIN and a QR code.

  2. 2

    Everyone joins from a phone

They go to sheelon.me/join and type the PIN, or scan the code. No app, no account and no nickname: just their words.

  3. 3

    Watch the cloud grow

Words land on your screen the moment they are sent. Hide one with a click, ask the next question in the same room, or download the picture.

Questions that work well

A word cloud is at its best with a question everyone can answer in a word, where the overlap is the interesting part.

Starting a lesson

  • What comes to mind when you hear 'democracy'?
  • One thing you already know about volcanoes
  • How are you feeling about the test, in one word?

Training and onboarding

  • What do you hope to take away from today?
  • One word for our company culture
  • Which tool do you use most at work?

Meetings and events

  • One word about the quarter
  • What should we stop doing next year?
  • Where are you joining from?

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. You need a free Sheelon account to open a cloud, and up to 30 people can join each one. Participants need no account at all: they type the PIN at sheelon.me/join or scan the QR code. On a paid plan, the limit is your plan's participant limit.

How many words can each person send?

You choose one, two or three before you open the cloud. Each word can be up to 30 characters, so a short phrase like 'ice cream' counts as one word.

What stops rude words from reaching the screen?

Every word goes through the filter that checks player nicknames in Sheelon games. A word it catches is refused on the phone and never reaches your screen. If something still gets through, click it and it disappears from the cloud.

Can I ask more than one question?

Yes. Press New question, type the next one, and it appears on every phone in the room. The PIN stays the same and the cloud starts empty. The last question's words are deleted, so download it first.

Can I keep the cloud?

Download it as an image from your screen, to paste into slides or a report. Do it before you move to a new question or end the cloud, since that deletes its words from Sheelon. Nothing is saved to your account, and whatever is left is deleted after 24 hours.

Do participants see each other's words?

No. Each phone shows only the question and the words sent from it. The cloud is on your screen, the one you project for the room.

Is this the word cloud question from Sheelon quizzes?

It is the same idea on its own: one open question at a time, free. Inside a full quiz, next to other question types and with a report afterwards, the word cloud question is part of Sheelon Pro.
